Visualization Techniques & Exercises
The ability to visualize goes a long way towards helping you increase your psychic abilities. In this article we will examine some of the visualization techniques and exercises you can do from the comfort of your home to help you increase your psychic abilities.
When we can see within our minds eye the objects, people, places and things we seek information about we become closer to them. In some ways, our energies merge and often it can feel as if you have left your current location and traveled to some other place, near the object of your work. For others it feels as if we literally become one with the person or object.
Most people who practice various visualization techniques will tell you that no one thing works for everyone. You may have to try multiple techniques before you find the one that is best for your personally. This in no way suggests you are doing something wrong. It is simply a fact of life that everyone is different and no one thing works for everyone.
Start by closing your eyes and just relaxing. If you are uptight or worried you will have a much harder time visualizing. Just consciously allow your mind and your body to relax.
One of the more simple visualization techniques is to start paying attention to what you see. Yes I know your eyes are closed but if you pay attention you will notice that it is not 100% complete and total blackness behind your eye lids. Almost everyone sees something, even if it is nothing more than some slight shades of gray mixed in with the black.
Whatever you see if perfectly normal. There is no right or wrong here, you are simple making note of what you see without any guidance or outside interference. See if you can get whatever you are seeing to move around. Allow it to slide back and forth across your vision or let is simply wander around, up and down, or any direction you feel comfortable with.
As you are playing with this visualization, you may start to see other images creep into your field of vision. If so, let it move to the fore front of your vision so you can examine it more closely. If no image happens to drop by, choose a simple object, such as an apple, a baseball, or perhaps a colored square and visualize it for a few moments.
For the next few minutes, spend some time examining the object with your minds eye. Visualization techniques like this are simple but very powerful in helping you to improve your ability to visualize. Look at all sides of the object and don't forget the top and bottom too.
When you are ready, let's turn this visualization technique up a notch. Using nothing but your closed eyes, try to judge the weight of the object. See if you can determine what it feels like. Is it hot or cold, soft or hard, smooth or rough? Does it have a smell? With practice you will be able to judge all of these things and more with just your visualization senses.
How long you choose to practice is up to you but for most people 10 to 20 minutes at a time works pretty good. If you are having fun with our visualization techniques, feel free to continue on with them. Choose another object and go through the entire session again.
Most visualization techniques have the added advantage of being extremely relaxing and can be used daily to help you de-stress from the tensions of everyday life and help you increase your visualization abilities at the same time. I suggest to all of my students to always find enough time for at least 1 short exercise every week. Three or four sessions a week is better, but you owe it to yourself to have at least some time each week for practice and relaxation.
