Rune Stones: Choosing the right set for you.
Of course if you are going to learn to cast Rune stones, you will need a set of your own. The choice is 100% up to you if you decide to make your rune stones yourself or purchase a premade set. Both choices have good and bad points and you must decide which is best for you personally.
Today, many people purchase their rune stones and attune themselves to the stones making them more than capable of giving an in depth reading to the querent. However, nothing can compare to the experience of making your own rune stones. This allows you to become emotionally and physically involved with the rune stones and imbue them with your own personal energies.
The decision on whether to purchase or make your rune stone set is entirely a personal one. You may be at a time in your life where there just is not time for you to make your own rune stones or you just may not be at a place in your life where the need to create is strong enough to compensate for the time requirements. Whatever the reason, it is perfectly fine to purchase your rune stones if that is what you personally choose to do.
Other people may well be at a different place in their life and would never think of anything other than making their own rune stones. It is 100% a personal decision that only you can make. There is no right or wrong answer.
Traditionally Rune Stones are made of wood, but today you can find rune stones made of almost any material imaginable. I like using tumbled semi-precious gemstones, polymer clay, decorative glass drops (like used in flower arrangements) or other types of clay.
With a little searching, you can find quality constructed sets in a wide range of colors. I have seen sets made of sterling silver, wooden sets often come with beautiful designs burned into the back side of each stone. Glass sets comes in a wide range of shapes and colors and often with reflect light back into the room creating an ambiance that is beautiful.
If you have chosen to purchase your rune stones, you simply need to attune to them and you are ready to move forward in your classes.
Attuning takes time. It will not happen overnight and just when you think the runes have taught you all the knowledge they have to teach, you will suddenly find you have only just begun to scratch the surface of the wealth of information available via the runes.
You will start to see runes in natural formations around you. A rock leaning against a curb may look like Fehu. A torn leaf from a tree may look like Gebo.
As you continue to take the runes into your very being, you may begin to suddenly see a runes shape just when you personally have a question you would like answered, almost an ask and you will receive type of reply.
I prefer my students take at least a week per rune stone to attune yourself to them. At the very least, I suggest you take an absolute minimum of 24 days to attune to the runes. That is just one rune stone per day. If you have to go through them that fast, I urge you to start the attunement process a second time, taking at least a full week per rune stone.
Attuning to the runes is a process of immersion. Draw the rune of the week 100 times a day and spend time mediating on it. Get a picture of it in your minds eye and see yourself drawing the rune stone over and over again.
Repeat the name of the rune over and over again verbally or in your mind. Chant it until it merges with your very being.
You may notice while doing this, that you may have a type of vision regarding the runes. You may have flashes of insight where you suddenly "know" something involving the runes. Whatever information you receive, write it down in a journal as all of this combines together to give you in-depth and vibrant knowledge. This is the true power behind the rune stones.
