Rune Reading: Beginning to Read Runes
For your very first rune reading, I suggest you do a simple one stone reading on yourself. It is very good practice to do a quick one stone reading for yourself every morning so you can get a feel of what the day has in store for you plus it helps you learn to basic meanings more quickly.
To do this, find a place where you can have a few moments to yourself. I personally prefer drawing the stone from the bag but you are free to use the casting method of your choice.
Take a moment to quiet your mind and if you have a specific question, formulate it in your mind at this time. If you do not have a specific question the generic "What does this day hold in store for me", is a good one to use on a daily basis.
Move your rune stone around in their pouch to mix the throughly then draw one while concentrating on your question.
You can get a quick answer by reading the divinatory meaning of the rune you pulled, but if you are serious about becoming efficient at rune reading, don't stop with that basic meaning.
Listen to what your own body is telling you. Only you can determine exactly how you receive information and with practice knowledge that goes well beyond the basic meanings of the stones will be available to you if you take the time to learn how you personally receive the information.
It would not be unusual for you to pull the exact same stone for 2 different people but your rune reading reading would be completely different because as you connect with the Universal Knowledge you are combining the runes meanings with information specific to the querent to give a fuller reading than just the stones meanings could ever give.
This is a concept that is hard for some people to understand. I strongly urge you if you do not understand what is being said here, ask questions. It is impossible for anyone to write a lesson that everyone will understand.
This concludes the basic rune reading part of the class. I strongly suggest you master this first before you move on to anything harder. Talk about what you have learned either with friends and family or with others in our forum. It helps you to become at ease with doing basic readings and before you know it you will be looking for more advanced layouts to practice.
