Emotional Healing
We have all suffered through the loss of someone close to us and been in need of emotional healing. Someone special that made life so much more meaningful by being in our lives, their passing leaves us with raw nerves, feeling like a piece of our very existence has been torn from our bodies and like our world will never be the same.
Other times when we need emotional healing are after suffering the loss of a job, when we are left without knowing what tomorrow will bring. Will we survive? How will I feed my children? Will we lose the house? Times like these can be aggravated and made even worse when the turmoil causes stress between you and your mate, especially if it causes the two of you to split up.
Do not feel like you are alone in these times. Almost everyone experiences at least part of these feelings at some point in time and you can decide to do nothing and see if things happen to turn out for you, or work with the following emotional healing techniques and try to create a better tomorrow. It is important to realize that there is always a reason for the things we go through. Most of the time we can not see what that reason is but know that there is always a purpose for everything.
Emotional healing works best if you accept that you are the center of your own personal universe and everything that you have experienced is in some way related to everything you have ever done in your life. Life may seem like one long string of little things that have no connection, but in reality, it is all connected and if you had not experienced every single thing in your life, you would not be where you are at at this moment in time.
That in no way means you should start downing yourself for bad decisions or beating yourself up over missed opportunities. In fact quiet the opposite, be glad that things work this way because it means you can start on a road to a different outcome and a better life.
The first step in emotional healing is to get all the pent up frustrations out of you. When you hold these things in, they cause your entire body to tense up. Your energy flow becomes blocked and you are cut off from the source.
There are several ways you can begin your emotional healing. I will list them here and you can choose which you think will work best for you. They all have a common goal, with only slight differences in the path they take to that goal.
1) Find a place outdoors where you can lay on the ground and be uninterrupted for at least 15 minutes or so. Get yourself into a relaxed position that you will be able to stay still for the time you are working.
When you are ready, take a deep breath and as you exhale, allow all the tension in your body to drain out of you and into the ground beneath you. If need be visualize it as a dark and oily substance that drains from your body and is absorbed into the ground.
With each exhale, allow more and more of it to drain from you until you have let go of all of it. Then when you are ready, pick yourself up and go about your day.
2) For those that have a hard time keeping focused long enough to follow the exercise above, find a rock small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. This rock is a tool to help you jump start your emotional healing.
Find a place where you can be alone for a while when no one is around and you do not have to worry about others hearing you.
Find a comfortable place to sit and hold the rock in your hands. Think of one of the things that has had you upset or worried and as you think of it, see it in your minds eye moving down your arm and into the rock.
Go through everything you can think of that has been pent up inside of you and let them all go into the rock.
If there is a specific person or thing that is bothering you and you feel like you need to really get it out of your system, feel free to curse and it, call it every name in the book and then allow those negative emotions to go right into your rock.
If you need to yell at it, that is fine, go right ahead. Do whatever you need to do to get it all out of your body and into the rock and keep working at it till you feel like it is all out of you.
When you are ready, take the rock and go out somewhere where you can throw the rock without hitting someone or something else and throw it will all of your might, knowing it is taking all your problems with it. If there is not place you can throw like this, try to find a stream you can drop the stone in and allow the flowing waters to take all your frustrations away.
3) This last exercise can be done almost anywhere and at any time that you can get a few minutes of quiet time without interruption.
Find a comfortable place to sit where your back will be straight. Close your eyes and visualize a brilliant white light coming from the universe and streaming down in one perfect beam into the top of your head.
As the light enters your head, see it in your minds eye as your body starts to fill with this perfect white light. Allow the light to push all negativity from your body. You can watch it flow out the bottom of your feet and your entire body slowly fills with the white light from the universe.
When it feels as if all the negativity has been released from your body, visualize the beam of light turning off and see the energy of the white light drain out of your body. You do not want to hold on to that energy because it can make you jumpy to hold it in your body for too long.
Just know that the light has pushed all of the negative energy out of you and your emotional healing has been turned up a notch.
All of these methods serve to help jump start your emotional healing. They also allow you to let go of the build up of negativity that is holding you back and you should start to see some changes happening in your life before long.
Each person is different and if you need to, it is perfectly fine to do all 3 exercises or to repeat an exercise over several days until you feel like your emotional healing process has advanced enough to allow you to go on with your life.
